| Hi all, I parked @ Rose Garden yesterday and returned to find my GPS was stolen. The person broke the window and snatched my GPS out of my dashboard and I am still very upset at the moment I have always thought UBC parkade as a considerably safe place...I mean the patrol told me that it has been a issue lately but seriously, if we have to pay 13 bucks for 4 hours why can't they do a better job @ patrolling or maybe install a few more surveillance camera? Anyways..just looking for anyone who might have had the same experience...to feel terrible together... | comments: Leave a comment |
| Hi all,
Is there anyone who has taken theses classes before that can give me some insight on the course load, labs, etc? I can't seem to find much info on either of these courses (though I understand EOSC 340 is relatively new). I know EOSC 329 isn't offered this term, but I'd like to know in case I need to switch around some classes this term.
Thanks! | comments: Leave a comment |
| Has anyone ever taken POLI 260 with Dr. Sens?
I was in his class today, and even though it seems interesting so far, his self-written, only brand-new, 4th edition (published Jan 1st, 2010) textbook package is being sold for $172 (maybe I misread the price tag??). I'm thinking of buying an older edition, but apparently he's updated the entire textbook so he says the older editions won't help as much.
If he's a good professor, I'm more than willing to stick around and work a bit more this term. Thoughts, anyone? :) | comments: 1 comment or Leave a comment |
| hey everyone
i'm taking this course and i was wondering what the best way is to succeed in this course? I did fairly well in anatomy 390, but i read over the comments on ratemyprofessors and it seems like the anatomy 391 has a brutal final.
could anyone that has taken the course provide an insight onto why the final was so hard? how would i prepare for it?
thanks in advance for your answers! | comments: 1 comment or Leave a comment |
| Hello all!
I read in the Ubyssey about how students have to pay $2.50 to use the Canada Line starting January 1, 2010 even if they have a U-pass, but I've looked online everywhere (including the UBC and the Translink page) and I can't seem to find any mention of it. Does anyone know what's the real deal behind this new fee?

| Did anyone here take Psych 308A Distance Education? Thoughts/recommendations? How was the course structured?

| I was wondering if anyone knew whether CHEM 233 is typically offered in the first term of the summer session, or the second term? Also, is it usually difficult to get into the class? Is placement determined by previous chem marks? (ie: Chem 123 mark?) or is it determined simply by who registers first?
Any information on this would be greatly appreciated! Thank you! | comments: 4 comments or Leave a comment |
| Hi everyone,
Is there a deadline for changing specializations? I'm currently in third year, and I'm trying to change my Sociology minor to Asian Studies, but I keep getting a "You are no longer able to add or change your specializations" message.
I also have a question about the accuracy of Degree Navigator - apparently I'm still missing the research and writing component credits for English. But according to the Arts website this only applies to "students who began their studies in Arts in Winter Session 2009/10 or later", and I obviously began my studies before that. Help would be much appreciated! Thanks! | comments: 2 comments or Leave a comment |
| Hi everyone,
I just checked my SSC and disappointingly I failed 3 courses with an average of 42% from my total of 5 courses . I'm a 1st year student in Arts and I'm worried about getting kicked out. Any advices on what I should do to prevent that from happening? Are there any suggestions on relatively easier courses in which I could try pulling up my grades from? | comments: 13 comments or Leave a comment |
| Hello all...
I was looking for exchange universities and I'm interested in maybe going to Northern Japan on exchange, but the website only has southern and middle Japan...
So can we go somewhere technically not listed if we talk with I-House or do something?

| Howdy!
I am looking to sell my Psyc 217 textbooks and course notes
I am selling: 1. Methods in Behavioral Research. Published by McGraw-Hill, written by Cozby P. C. 2. How to think straight about psychology. Published by Pearson, written by Stanovich. Both For $75 (with course notes as a bonus!)
These books are in excellent condition! They are a edition old, but when I took the course this past semester with Savalei she said it didn't matter, and the text covered the course material fully. They also come with my neatly Psyc 217 course notes.
I am also looking to buy: 1. Greenblatt's Norton Anthology of English Literature 8E, volume A, B & C. (978039392834) 2. Price's Principles of Archeology (with Access Card) 3. Fagan's Ancient North America 4E
Please let me know if you have any of these to sell! Thanks! | comments: Leave a comment |
| Hey UBC Livejournal! I took my last final exam on December 19th, and the grade for that course is still not released yet on SSC. I was wondering if it is normal for the grade to be uploaded so late onto the web? I am currently on academic probation. I took 4 courses during semester 1. The final grades for 3 of the courses were released. In order for me to get out of AP, I need to pass the 4 courses and obtain an average of 60% in semester 1. Now, I am confident that I am getting out of AP. However, if my final grade for that course is not released yet, my registration for semester 2 will not be opened... I am worried since class is starting on Monday, and I am registered in 0 courses. A lot of the courses I want to register for next semester are full. Anyone experienced this before? Thanks in advance! | comments: 4 comments or Leave a comment |
| | So I'm in my second last semester in Arts and I've left the dreaded science creds for last. I'm trying to decide between ASTR 311, EOSC 311, EOSC 312. Has anyone taken these? I'm just looking for something do-able for me (I'm pretty dense with science) | comments: 4 comments or Leave a comment |
| | I accidentally dropped a course that I was registered for.. now I can't add it again because the status beside it is still full. How can I fix this? Thanks.. | comments: 1 comment or Leave a comment |
| | Hiya - I have applied to do Human Kinetics at UBC (as well as applying to some British Universities) and was basically looking for an advice/thoughts from current students doing this course? Or any other international students? I am from London, UK but had dual citizenship as my mother is Canadian. I have never lived in Canada but have visited a few times and absolutely fell in love with the "Vancouver" way of life. I love to ski and am going to get my CSIA level 1 & 2 instructors certificates next season in Mt. Tremblant, Quebec. Also - what are the career prospects from this course? Thank you! x | comments: 2 comments or Leave a comment |
| Hope this isn't a really stupid question coming from a confused first year student, I'm planning to travel in February during the games so can anyone confirm if the extended mid-term break is indeed a two-week long holiday (ie. no lectures, no exams)? The UBC calendar says no lectures nor labs, but I want to make sure it's not an exam(mid-term) week thingy before I book my flight ticket. If so, are the mid-term exams usually held before or after the break? I'm in science btw.
Thanks in advance, and happy new year to all! :) | comments: 6 comments or Leave a comment |
| Hello! I'm a UBC hopeful and wanted to know where I could get information for soon-to-be international students coming from the US or if anyone here could help me out. I was also wondering if there's anything for Canada that's similar to assist.org where they show you exactly what classes you need to take at your current institute in order to transfer to whatever other institute you want. Just a couple more questions: What GPA do you have to maintain for a Political Science and Women's & Gender Studies double-major? How many units are required before transferring?
I'm pretty sure I have more questions but those are the things I need to know before asking anything else. Thanks in advance!
By the way, Happy Early New Years! :D
ETA: I just wanted to mention that I'm already a sophomore at my local community college and is planning to get my undergrad at a CSU and after that, I was hoping to transfer from there to UBC to get my Master's and my PhD. I believe I already have more than 25 units out of the way but I need to make up 3 classes because I received a D (will this heavily effect it even if I make it up; I'm not sure if the D's will show up on my transcript). | comments: 16 comments or Leave a comment |
